Dan (Dante) A. Colussy

2009 –   Present: Chairman of   Gemini Capital LLC - venture fund investing in early stage development   companies involving new technologies.  
Portfolio Companies: Materials Lifecycle Management Corporation   (MLMC); Chairman, NanoVapor Inc.; Vice Chairman, Powersite Capital LLC; Board   Member.


2000 - 2009: During this time, he held the position of Chairman of   Iridium Holdings LLC. He was the leader of the investor group that   restructured Iridium Satellite LLC out of Bankruptcy on 12/12/00. He served   as CEO during the initial post-bankruptcy period and as Chairman of the   parent company, Iridium Holdings LLC from 12/00 to 12/09. Iridium   Communication operates the world’s largest satellite constellation and is a rapidly growing   and profitable entity providing global voice and data communications services   to numerous U.S. and foreign government agencies and commercial customers   serving over 700,000 subscribers. 


Other   Business Affiliations: 1) 2005 - 2009: Dan Colussy was a member of the Board of Directors of   Horizon Lines Inc., a container ship company listed on the NYSE. 2) 1989 - 1999: He was the Chairman of the Board of Care First Inc., a   health care company with revenues of $4.4 Billion whose affiliates included   the Blue Cross Blue Shield™ Plans of Maryland, the District of Columbia,   and Delaware. 3) 1992 - 2001:   He was a member of the Board of Constellation Energy Group Inc., formerly   Baltimore Gas & Electric Company™. 4) 1998 - Present:  He is   the Chairman of Gemini Capital, a private investment firm. 


1985 - 1997: For this amount of time, he was Chairman, President, and   CEO of UNC Inc., formerly known as the United Nuclear Corporation. United   Nuclear was a fully integrated nuclear company whose activities included the   production of submarine reactors for the U.S. Navy, participation in the U.S.   Government nuclear weapons program, and the production of nuclear fuels.   Beginning in the late 1980’s, the company was restructured out of the nuclear field   into the aerospace and aviation fields, which included the manufacture of   aircraft components, the overhaul of aircraft and jet engines, and the   provision of various aviation services to commercial and military customers.   UNC was listed on the New York Stock Exchange, was headquartered in Annapolis,   Maryland, and had revenues of $1.1 Billion. The Company was sold to the   General Electric Co.™ in November 1997. 


1981-1984: He held the positions of Chairman, President, and CEO of   Canadian Pacific Airlines, which was headquartered in Vancouver, British   Columbia, Canada. CP Air, now merged with Air Canada™, operated a major   domestic and global airline network spanning five continents that included   the ownership of the Canadian Pacific Hotel chain. He also served as Chairman   of Columbia Air™, a U.S. regional startup airline during this period. 


1970-1980: For this 10-year period, Mr. Colussy was President and   COO of Pan American World Airways™ headquartered in New York City. He   also held several other senior executive operating and marketing positions   prior to being named President. In the 1970’s Pan   Am™ was the world’s largest international airline serving 120 countries with   41,000 employees. 


1956-1969: During this period, he held various positions with   several companies including Wells, Rich, & Green™ advertising   agency, Northeast Airlines™, American Airlines™, and as an engineer in   General Electric’s Flight Propulsion Division. 


1953-1956: Before working in business, he served in U.S. Coast Guard   as a deck and engineering officer on the USCGC Winnebago (WPG) operating in   the Western Pacific.

  

Dan Colussy   holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University, a   Bachelor's of Science Degree in engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard   Academy, and a Commercial Pilot's License. Avocations include sailing, skiing, and golf.   He was married to Helene Graham, who has since then passed. He has two   daughters and four grandchildren and he currently resides in Jupiter,   Florida. 

He has served   on the Board of Visitors for Johns Hopkins Medicine and the College of   Business. The Advisory Council of St. Johns College and the Historic   Annapolis Foundation have also enlisted his services. The Chesapeake Bay   Foundation and the Hospice of Chesapeake have also received his aid and in   1997, Mr. Colussy became a Beacon of Hope Honoree.

Currently, he is a member, and former president, of the Wings Club in New York City. The Harvard Club of New York City, Metropolitan Club of Washington, DC, The Bear's Club of Florida, and the Trump National Golf Club also have his membership.

Awards

  

He was a distinguished graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy, and has received the Order of St. Johns in Canada. Overseas, he has earned the Order of Cavaliere, which was presented to him by the Government of Italy.
